And with one "WTF...?" look, Timothy Geithner gets the sympathy of the world.

And don't Geithner and Bernanke look like characters from The Wind in the Willows? Once Ratty has given up, wise old Badger tries to make the weasels see sense. Barney Frank makes quite a good Toad, too.

She's way less crazy-looking than the dreaded Sarah Palin, but Republican women are alien demons who will reveal their true faces once they've taken down Obama and brought the world to ruin so they can occupy our planet unimpeded.

Great title!

Boy, is that woman a nut! Gee, you don't think her looks had anything to do with her getting elected, do you? [rolls eyes]

I have the soul of a sub-editor. (I always hoped to be able to comment on the foreign policy of the previous Australian government: "System of A. Downer")

Gee, you don't think her looks had anything to do with her getting elected

Unfortunately, I think her political principles and values probably had more to do with it.

My nephew listens to "System of a Down." "System of A. Downer" is a lot more grammatical!

About Bachmann, I'm sure her nutty belief system appeals to some, but there are probably less attractive people with the same nutty beliefs, they just don't get elected to office.

I looked her up on Wikipedia, sure that it would say that the first step in her brilliant career was when she won Miss Anoka County 1976. But no. I guess we're both being kind of sexist.

Well, I don't think its only women who find good looks to be an advantage in politics -- I doubt Mitt Romney would be where he is if he were short, fat, and had warts (although being rich doesn't hurt him, either.) But, there is good evidence that although looks help for both men and women (in a variety of occupations), it matters more for women.
